SESSION TWO

The Fundamental Definition of Marriage

Marriage is a unique and exclusive relationship created and ordained by God before sin entered the world. God formed Eve as Adam’s perfectly suited companion, establishing marriage as a good and purposeful union in which a man and woman become one flesh. Throughout Scripture, marriage also serves as a picture of God’s covenant love—illustrating His relationship with Israel in the Old Testament and Christ’s love for the church in the New Testament. By understanding the biblical foundations of marriage, couples can pursue unity, faithfulness, and Christlike love, strengthening their homes to glorify God and serve as faithful witnesses in the world and the church.
